There was a time when wearing a hairpiece, or what was coined a “rug,” was considered a sign of insecurity. Today, the technological advances in men’s hair replacement systems has made them look so realistic that no one would ever know they are not real hair. These systems can be custom made to fit the head and match the wearer’s natural hair color.

There are many different types of hairpieces on the market today and they are made from many different materials. Some of the most common and least expensive are those that are made out of synthetic materials. These new synthetics sometimes look just like real hair and are a low-cost alternative to surgical hair replacement.

There are also hairpieces made from real hair. These come in a variety of different hair types. The hair is gathered from different countries and is usually processed specifically for this purpose. In India, the hair is taken in ritual ceremonies at the time of marriage when the head of the girl who is getting married is shaved.

The hair is then bleached, cleaned, and sanitized. It is then either left in its bleached state for custom dying later or is colored as required. It is ordered and shipped to companies that make hairpieces who then make custom pieces. These are the most realistic of the hairpiece types that are available on the market today.

There are many different materials and styles of hairpieces on the market today. This can make it difficult to find the perfect one. The first decisions the purchaser should make are how much can be spent and what materials are desired. There are those who are going to want to have a custom hairpiece made specifically for their head shape and hair color.  Others may prefer a synthetic piece that has a realistic appearance.  With the variety of options available, there seems to be the perfect solution for every man.
